Trolling , General description; Oxford; erb [ intrans. ]
1 fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat : we trolled for mackerel.
• search for something : a group of companies trolling for partnership opportunities.

History: Trolling with a lure likely goes as far back to when early man first saw larger fish chasing smaller fish when feeding on the surface and used a crude lure fashioned out cloth or other floating material and placed a hook at the end. Then by sail or rowed one's boat trailing the lure behind. As of now trolling lure brands are as vast as the styles and colors. Far to many to mention. Here's a few photos and words about trolling lures.

Here are a few of the many styles and colors modern trolling lures come in. Most are rigged with single and tandem style hooks. Double hooks are common for tuna clones and feathers. To the left is a standard trolling lure spread (placement) note; the short in side lures are on the third boat wake. Try running one very short in the propeller wash... wahoo and tuna frequently bite very close to the boat. Be sure to have matching speed lures, as for some head styles will not be as effective at the same speed or sea conditions. Color choices depend on area (favorite pattern) and type of natural bait fish for that location's fishing. Light colors, dark colors... basic rules are sunny days, bright colors and low light, darker ones. Head styles depends on speed and sea conditions as well fishermen's preference. More to follow soon~
